CAE ESGOB

Then and Now. Cae Esgob, home of Mary Jones, who married Sion / John Wheldon, my great great grandfather, who lived half a mile away at Llwyn Cleyn (not even a ruin, although a new youth hostel bears the name in the same place). The train track in the background is the Snowdon railway. In order to access Cae Esgob you have to walk down the line itself, and nip over a wall. We do not know who the chap in the old picture is. The chap in yesterday's photo is me. Mary Jones was the granddaughter of Robert Jones, Rhoslan, author of Drych yr Amseroedd ('A Mirror of the Age'), 1820, which I am reliably informed is a Welsh Classic. https://cy.wikipedia.org/wiki/Robert_Jones,_Rhoslan
